How to maximise your recovery

We know you work hard for your booty. You push and sweat to your limits because you love the feeling you get from a good work out and you njoy staying in shape to maintain a healthy lifestyle. With all right intentions, sometimes the importance of recovery can be overlooked. We thought we'd share some light over the topic of recovery because we are ever so passionate about it.

Recovery starts with fueling the body correctly, proper hydration, rest and of course quality tender love and care for yourself. The topic of recovery can extend for ages, so we'll keep it simple and head straight to REST.

Rest is crucial regardless if you're pushing your training to the limit or if you're just embracing a healthy lifestyle in balance. 

Here are a few ways to rest and recover better:

  • If you're training 4-5x/week aim to get at least 8.5-9 hours of sleep/night. Remember, it can take you longer to fall asleep then you think some nights, so if you aim for a bit more time on your pillow you can be sure to not miss out on quality snooze time.
  • Active recovery is a great way to rest from what you normally do as part of your training and can be therapeutic for your mind and body. A few fun examples can be going for a stress free walk by the beach or in a park, gentle swimming, and a Pilates or yoga class.
  • Grab a magazine or a book and escape out of your bubble. Taking your mind off your normal day to day life tasks can be a great way to relax.
  • Take a hot bath or shower.
